Obasohan Getting Arrested"I'm getting arrested for a good cause," said Presley Obasohan, who is fighting foreclosure by Bank of America.  "So many people have been thrown out of their homes needlessly, because of mistakes the banks made.  I'm getting arrested to make sure my neighbors, and me, can stay in our homes.  We need principal reduction!"

On Friday, September 30th, 3,000 Right to the City members, union workers, community organizers, Boston residents and students took to the streets to make a visible stand against corporate greed. We carried colorful banners and signs, banged drums and chanted together in the streets: "The banks got bailed out. We got sold out!" and "Bank of America, Bad for America!"

Led by Boston families carrying signs that told their stories of predatory lending and foreclosure, the march made its way through downtown Boston, stopping at Hyatt and Verizon to support workers' demands for securing living-wage jobs, at Fidelity to lift up the youth led struggle for investing in jobs for young people and we protested the NSTAR Corporation supporting residents' demands for green jobs and affordable home weatherization.

We ended at the Massachusetts headquarters of Bank of America to confront the nation's largest lender for their role in the economic crisis. There, 24 of our sisters and brothers blocked all the entrances to the corporate building-some even made it inside to occupy the lobby-and were arrested as they stood up for themselves, their families, their friends and their neighbors facing foreclosure.  This action was pulled together as part of a broader national effort being spearheaded by New Bottom Line www.newbottomline.org, a national coalition of community organizations, congregations, labor unions, and individuals that includes Right to the City Alliance.
